2023 Sheep Season starts with a Bang!! ***Busy Night to kick off the sheep sales for another year...all three rings in full flow...
✨Breeders and Store lambs kicked off at the new start time of 6.00pm with 1100 sheep. Stores topped at £90 for a pen of suff x lambs from John O'Kane, Cushendall, Overall Average of stores lambs was £80. Not too many Breeders through the sale but two cracker Texel ewes from A Ferguson, cookstown topped the sale at £220, Mule Hoggets topped at £136 for a pen of N Logans, Randalstown.
✨Onto the Dorset Clubs Premier Show and Sale in Ring 1. Ewe lambs topped at 800g from A McConnell, other leading prices from Amy was 680g & 680g. Ellen McClure took the Top price of the Sale with a Ram Lamb at 1500g, with Ben Lamb 2nd highest with a ram lamb at 1000g. Ram Lambs averaged £650. Shearling Rams sold to 620g from Shane Wilson.
✨Ring 3 seen a New breed come to town. The Valais Blacknose drew a good crowd with the highest price of the night going to M Morrow, Aghnacloy for a Ewe Lamb at 2800g, other leading prices from Ewe lambs were 2500g 1900g, 1500g, 1400g. Ewes topped the sale at 1500g and Ram Lambs sold to 1100gns.
✨Other Breeds through Ring 3 seen a Texel Ewe from the Rosehill Dispersal Sale sell to 1850gns and a Gimmer from the Carmavy Flock reduction Sale sell to 850gns.
